John Bellamy 1755 - 1842

John Bellamy 1755 - 1842 was a controversial Biblical Scholar who produced a new translation of the Bible from the Hebrew texts, and he was a follower of Emanuel Swedenborg (David S. Katz, God’s Last Words: Reading the English Bible from the Reformation to Fundamentalism, (Yale University Press, 9 Feb 2004). Page 308).

John Bellamy was a friend of Peter Stuart, who championed the publications of his early manuscripts (L Finigan, The Life of Peter Stuart, the “Ditton Doctor”. [With Plates, Including Portraits and Facsimiles], (for family circulation 2nd edition, published by Books Limited, 187 Fleet Street London EC4 (Clifford’s Inn Passage), 1920, and by Liverpool and Prescot 1921). Pages 35-41). Peter Stuart was still publishing works and manuscripts by John Bellamy in 1888, and he wrote to his son from Elm House in 1863 to inform him that John Bellamy’s daughter, Mrs. George, still lived at 4, Well Street, Grays Inn (L Finigan, The Life of Peter Stuart, the “Ditton Doctor”.
