Trotman studied homeopathy in Paris with Samuel Hahnemann, and he was a high potency prescriber, he was a contributor to the Hahnemann Monument (see illustration) in 1845,

Trotman attended the Annual Homeopathic Congress in Edinburgh in 1852, and he treated an epidemic of Whooping Cough at the Orphan’s Asylum in Bristol (about 46 cases) in 1856,

Trotman practiced at 16 Charlotte Street, Park Street, Bristol, and at 27 Park Street, Bristol,
